Rick Sellano is a writer, painter, and photographer.
After a deep dive into healthcare as a clinical pharmacist, he began pursuing an MBA. This gave him a foothold in the investing arena. At the financial giant Vanguard, one of Sellano’s earliest assignments was to pen letters for the founding chairman, John Bogle. Later, he wrote materials to promote retirement savings.
Today, Rick Sellano runs My Ink Shines, a marketing agency he launched, and has earned a Certification in Marketing Strategy from Cornell University. Sellano is a contributor to the blog for the University of Pennsylvania’s Morris Arboretum. In 2019, Sellano was selected by a team of professional writers to read his essay, A Summer Stage, at the Writers Read “Stonewall + 50” event in New York.
He writes novels under the name “R.D. Sellano.”
Rick lives in the Philadelphia suburbs with his husband, Mark, and their cat, Milo, where the three of them share a life that keeps him grounded and grateful.

SUMMER 2021:
Again, I was fortunate to have been selected by Read650, this time for their “What’s Cooking?” installment.
“To the Victor” starts with food, tells about my Nonna—and, ultimately, becomes a tale of bravery. My father’s bravery!
In deference to COVID-19 safety, the authors produced these videos without an audience.

JUNE 2019:
It was the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world.
I was selected by Read650—along with a dozen other straight and LGBTQ writers—to share my personal essay live at the @Read650 Pride-month event, Stonewall + 50. Fellow writers, friends, and family joined me for this special event at The Loft at City Winery on Sunday, June 23. Thanks for attending and supporting me.
